Lasting Memories
Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus attend Feed the Children every year. They bring some of
their elves to take and print pictures of the children and the families. One of the families
attending the event this year had an elderly lady in a wheel chair with them. As they were
standing in line, this spunky lady spotted a Denver Bronco stuffed toy on the counter and
commented on how much she liked it. The elves gave her the doll. Her face lit up like a
child on Christmas morning. She and her family made it up to Santa and everyone got to be
in the picture. She was prominently placed in between Santa and Mrs. Claus with her daughter
and grandchildren lined up behind. Once the picture was taken, her daughter came back
over to the elves to thank them. She was in tears as she explained to them her mother has
lung cancer and kidney disease and this will be her last Christmas. She was full of gratitude
thanking the elves for “making my mother’s Christmas.” A few weeks later, the family received
an 8” x 10” print of the Santa picture so they could all remember how happy she was at that
moment in time.
